HARD TO HOLD (ft Tegan and Sara) - RAC

While listening to RAC’s album, I came across the track ‘Hard to Hold’ and imagined a balloon singing it to a cactus. So I made it happen.

If you haven’t got RAC’s debut album, you can get it here:
It’s the perfect soundtrack for the summer.

so cool!!

RAC: André Allen Anjos

(Photo by Michael Dwyer/Courtesy of Interscope Records)

As the digital world became more democratic throughout the early 2000s, Internet users and, in particular, music listeners started finding ways of creating and sharing their original takes on tracks by their favorite artists. But the industry didn’t want in: there were issues of copyright, of “artistic integrity,” that cast the burgeoning digital remix movement in a negative light.

But remix culture couldn’t be denied, and now, in perhaps a fated twist, one of its most prolific and influential contributors, RAC (that’s Remix Artist Collective), recently released an album of completely original music.

RAC played at The Observatory last night with guests Joywave and Ghost Beach. With a packed house and new material, the Remix Artist Collective put on a great show and certainly got the O.C. pumped for the weekend.

Opening act Joywave started things off with music from their new How Do You Feel EP. Vocalist Dan Armbruster even joined RAC later in the show to perform a remix of their hit song “Tongues (feat. Kopps).”

Playing their last show with RAC before their next run of shows, Ghost Beach got the crowd going with music from their latest album, Blonde. They will be supporting Blondfire and The Sounds for the last few shows of their North American tour. Check out our coverage of The Sounds’ stop in Santa Ana here.

Finally, after much anticipation, RAC took the stage. Upon the release of their new record, Strangers Pt. 2, the Remix Artist Collective weaved in some new originals to their set. Bumping tunes all night, RAC performed their renditions of fan favorites ranging from Lana Del Rey remixes to Foster the People. The Portland natives are set to play a sold out show at the El Rey Theater in L.A. next week; make sure you check out the full length debut album, Strangers.

Listen to RAC, Ghost Beach, Joywave, and more on KX 93.5, Laguna’s Only F.M.
